This recipe is one that I just throw together in a moments notice, and by no means competes with Authentic Italian pizza sauce. It is DELICIOUS though, and so easy, you'll never buy the jar stuff again!
(Ingredient amounts are only approximate, adjust to your taste)
Ingredients:
1 small can of tomato paste
2 Tbsp olive oil(extra virgin has a more depth of flavor)
1 tsp. salt
3/4 Tbsp. Sugar
1 tsp. dried basil
2 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp chili flakes
2 cloves of fresh garlic (minced)
1 tsp. onion powder
3/4 to 1 cup of water
Directions:
Into a high sided container, add all ingredients, and blend with an immersion blender until smooth, but still has texture. Taste it to make sure it isn't too sweet and has enough seasoning. If its too sweet as some more water or oil, but not too much, because you don't want it too thin. Once you have it perfect to what you like, it's ready to use!
Notes:
You don't need an immersion blender, you can use any blender or food processor.
The fresh garlic with make the raw sauce taste extra spicy. Once it cooks it will mellow out.
