Homemade Cheezits!

Writer's picture: SassyRootsSassyRoots

Ingredients:

8 oz. Cheddar Cheese

1 1/2 tsp. salt

1 1/3 Cup flour

2 tsp. sugar

2 tsp. baking powder

1 cup heavy cream

1 egg

1 egg yolk

1 Tbsp water

Extra 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:

Pre Heat oven to 375 Degrees

Add cheese, salt, flour, sugar, and baking powder to food processor and blend until crumbly. While processor is still running, slowly pour in the heavy cream and blend just until combined, and a soft "shaggy" dough ball is formed.

Turn dough out, onto a floured surface, and knead about 5 times, until dough comes together, as a light and very soft dough.

Roll dough out to about 1/16 to 1/8th of an inch, cut into one by one inch squares, and poke holes(optional).

All to parchment lined baking sheet. Beat the egg, egg yolk, water, and extra salt until well combined. Brush each dough piece with egg wash. I also sprinkled lightly with a little more salt incase some of it wasn't divided evenly. If you don't make sure each piece has salt, the flavor profile wont pop. Bake for 24 minutes.
